The babies are hard to tell but check out the one below 286 they look very similar.
And the other one really looks like modestum to me. What do you think Kurt.

I agree they look alike. My gut tells me they are probably ithaca over the strong sternal banding but modestum is quite variable. Both can have either bifurcated ventrolateral maculations on the ninth or connected to form a "U" so that's no help. They both also have the same lateral spine length ratios and normally only have them on 7 - 9 (except some forms of ithaca that can have them on 6 as well). Even the foretarsal claws aren't always helpful. I can't make out the lateral spines or claws anyway, so discussing them is moot in this case. Photos can only take you so far.

Yeah photos are not always the answer details especially on the young ones
are really hard to say. Is is nice to get them to a specie to some degree
because it give us the younger perspective, in the event that someone posts a
juvi we can shop and compare.
