A while ago I posted for people to guess the words that are used most often on this forum.

And here are the answers! These are all the words with at least 4 letters that were used 5 or more times on this forum as of about June 2010:

taxon view edit notes species that caddisfly mayfly have with fish they this there some from about just trout genus were water like them when more time will fishing your very what would hatch other around think good really also dont into then well because than little which much these many most night right their back nymphs flies down brown stonefly family even been know after stream only first year over caught take where river dark nymph hatches find before those natural might still here rising feeding could same make during insect spinners spring should last site surface going years different mayflies probably next couple several streams great duns something seen emerge work sure every through pattern always evening thing while stuff size insects heard things once lake maybe best guys fished small though another below materials large snowshoe thought guess emergence rhyacophila want need emerger pretty started people under long start late dorothea emerging patterns drakes help better never usually seems theyre bugs john sulphur along least actually getting drake near days since idea post made catch later look float shore times didnt hope left believe tying being found nice again move nothing example such said main works both branch quite number deep almost went favorite between home waters light less paraleptophlebia until especially action side synthetics doesnt enough lepidostoma spinner come page hard trying slow without oils important interesting others early must feet trip emergers sense show thanks feel myself ephemerella course point however sulphurs doing rise tried prey spot isonychia order aquatic anyone love above hours happening anything afternoon tail sulfurs real kind brachycentrus fibers ever minutes lena epeorus flat ephemera makes middle whole each creek done high sometimes hatching brule give south true taking downstream place wouldnt imitation easy places bridge couldnt upstream baetisca hear completely bank used call lines anglers casting season lots wings away please forum read using rather tell change pictures wing toward bear either siphlonurus type close namekagon takes darkness perfect caddis else northern mean coming glossosoma cheumatopsyche ceratopsyche black tight thats food dries narrows conditions west although information hydroptila falling jason ones hexagenia three working life sort books able color island wasnt cant invaria lost moved floating fast pool library often rhithrogena sporadic gene came everything research east except specimens thread live road stage someone dusk arent hooked spent selective mention section book creeks everyone maccaffertium weeks bluegills experience does film week list prefer isnt hate rain scientific write worked fisherman morning part marabou means hour having certain temperature june green fact picked drunella mostly noticed including north cast bass behind hole activity ameletus catching wanted told goes flashlight finally check state problems trap thinking asked theres missed youre seeing baetis daylight soul gonzos making cause feed walk procloeon wont drift opposite discussion behavior extra heres beautiful pond smaller line looked literally hexes trouble various head fishermen dryfly synthetic current canoe common bend seemed seem sulfur hold sleep rock walked tied floats wonder pages havent chance distance keep spotted bring already absolutely stop cool learned brad given today second beta evenings within inches browns clump siphloplecton louis ended white kept name freestone reply shape public spence spread open gonzo midwest werent seconds text success data free limnephilus modern lies search rocks primarily ceraclea sink imitations nearly foot happens male specific stone comments woods users tree months test hydropsyche burrow classification bunch associated perhaps whether reports welcome tonight testers knows anymore ride molecules heavy watch holes active possible showed picture certainly pass took pressured soon rises pools instead midges hand link emerged litobrancha figure springs rabbit entomology wisconsin anyway decided area taken drive whatever centroptilum rotunda mind

I had no idea Roger had posted this much - someone should probably intervene. Gonzo is way down the list - a disappointing showing.

I like looking for almost-poetic almost-sentences in this list. A few:

just trout genus were water like them when more time will fishing your very what

most night right their back nymphs flies down brown stonefly

while stuff size insects heard things once lake

baetisca hear completely bank used call lines

A new game - anyone else care to play?

-Shawn

P.S. Any meter used in this post was strictly unintentional.

It doesn't list usernames of the people posting, actually, just the bodies of the posts. So more people were talking about Taxon or replying to Taxon by saying, "Yeah, what Taxon said," etc.

It also probably helps that his nickname is a word that comes up in other contexts, too. Gonzo doesn't have that advantage, since this forum is about fly fishing. If the two were to meet again in a forum about muppets, I expect the tables would be turned.

just trout genus were
water like them when more time
will fishing your ve...ry what

Whew!! It's not a haiku. Almost broke my own rule.

Oh Really? I'm not going to say a word.... NOT a word....

Allan...Those are some really interesting combinations...

Kurt...Thanks sir for being discreet! :)

Tony...His predictions were right on and I'm not only an old-red-barn but red in the face! I must stop signing my posts! I will now sign off as "The Enigma"...

Now I'm not surprised about Louis,he and I are floating downstream in the same B.S. boat each taking turns at the old Lore Oars, but Taxon's number one rating probably has to do with Mr. G heading up the mountain in the winter for meditation and more enlightenment...Roger wants us to believe he's the quiet obi wan kenobi with his short and concise responses but you have to watch those quiet ones...;)
