I took a old friend up to my favorite river today to do a little streamer fishing, the conditions were less than perfect for streamer fishing. In fact it was darn neat late summer weather. My friend is 70 years old and a trout on a fly rod is something he has always wanted to do, so my job today was try and get him a fish on a streamer. The conditions were tough, sunny, windy, and warm. We fished for around 6 hrs. From starting point to walk out and back to the car for lunch. Roy enjoyed the beauty of the river and I managed one small brown. After lunch we moved to a different spot, shortly after starting we separated for a bit, and then I heard Roy yell. Yes, he caught a very nice brown, you couldn’t wipe the smile of his face! I hope to be able to help Roy in his quest to become a better fly fisherman, but it was very rewarding to see successful and so happy.
Mike.

Well done, Mike! Always good to share this wonderful hobby. Got a post of my own coming, the last day of fly rodding may have been today!

No matter how big the one you just caught is, there's always a bigger one out there somewhere...

Nice work, Mike. Sounds like a perfect day.
