Posts: 1So sorry if i am writing in wrong class im new to forum.so i was wondering is it possible to dig a stream and pond in which would be stocked bullheads, crayfish, minnows and trout so trout would live in pond and when time comes go up the stream to breed.next question is requirements you think it would need(how wide stream, how big stream, gravel or sand, water current and how much water falls, depth of stream) and third question is which species of trout would you stock. Trouts that i can get are brown trout, rainbow trout, grayling, lake trout, arctic char, salvenius fontilais(i dont know the name),grayling and huchen. Water for stream and pond are from river next to them.

Wow! you must be a very rich man. To actually create a trout stream from where none existed before is going to cost very much money, You just can't go and start digging with a back hoe and hope for the best. You need to hire a consulting engineering firm that specializes in stream renovation and creation. Of course you first need an existing cold water source. Either a substantial cold water spring or a lake with cold water and a stream that enters the lake to provide water for your stream. The amount of money you will need is going to be determined by how long you want to make your man made stream. I would guess the minimum is going to be at least $100,000 US dollars and probably more if you add structure to the stream to enhance fish holding characteristics.

Here are a few links to companies that could build you a trout pond or stream.
