Common Questions for begginer fly fishing trout

Bailey colorado Posts: 1	I am new to fly fishing and want information on, -line weight (what to use on trout in rivers, streams, and lakes.) -What or good rod and reel brands? -How much should i expect to spend? - should i buy a net and waders because it helps so much? - what kind of flys would you recommend? -Do all flies float at the top and do some sink?

Moderator Palmyra PA Posts: 3233	Small streams 3 or 4 weight; medium to large rivers 5 or 6. There are a great many rod and reel brands. Too many to list. It depends on how much you want to spend, but Cabelas and Orvis offer rod and reel combinations that are balanced and good quality. You can probably get a good rod and reel for 2-300.00 at Cabela's. Waders are necessary in most cold trout streams, especially in the early season. A net helps land fish without hurting them. Get a fly assortment from Cabelas or Orvis, and some good "how to" books on how to use them. Go out with a guide. These actions will answer many questions. You just have to start; you will add more and more knowledge over time. It's impossible to learn it all at once. Good luck!
