Does anyone know where I can purchase waders (preferably stocking foot) for size 16 feet? Size 15 might work if the stocking foot is neoprene.

It seems that the only wader manufacturers who go up to size 15 assume that you have a 50 inch girth. I don't know why they assume that: my feet were this big in high school and at that time, I had a 32 inch waist. Now I'm pushing 36". I'd be reluctant to purchase oversize because some of the water I fish is pretty fast and if I go down, I don't want to become a water balloon.

Back in 2011, I was able to purchase a good fit from Dan Baileys, but they've gone out of selling their own waders and the waders I bought back then now have serious leaks in both legs.

I've read that Simms will make custom waders, sized to your foot, but only on the higher end models: I'm not willing to spend $500+ on waders.

Thanks in advance.

I'd call Simms and Patagonia to see if any of their low end waders might come in a size that would work. Simms is generally cut relatively snug, so a larger size might not be as balloonish as some other makes. You might also call Orvis, LL Bean, and Cabela's just to see if their product specialists can recommend anything that might work. Orvis has some nice waders now, and the feet in them are relatively roomy compared to the Simms standard waders. Best of luck!

Thank you Martinlf. I already tried chatting with LL Bean: they don't have anything over size 13. I checked out the websites for Cabela's and Orvis, no dice. I haven't checked with Patagonia though. I'll do that next.

I might try to repair my old waders from Dan Bailey. When I reached out to them, they advised that they stopped selling waders eight years ago, but they suggested "Aqua Seal" if I wanted to attempt repairs. Any thoughts on that?

I've used Aquaseal on waders many times. It's the best product I know of to repair waders. If the leak is not in the neoprene bootie the repair is easier. Sometimes it's very hard to pinpoint a leak in a bootie. Simms has a good video on how to seal pinholes; check their website. You spray the inside of the wader with rubbing alcohol and the holes darken, then you rub a tiny dab of Aquaseal on the hole. If the leak is in the seam, the alcohol method may work there also. You can apply Aquaseal before the alcohol is fully dry; it will still adhere. You can also fill a tub with soapy water, fill the waders with air and roll them up at the waist opening (like a dry bag) to make them into a wader balloon and immerse it in the soapy water. Air bubbles will show you the leaks. Mark and find the spot on the inside and apply the Aquaseal there. If you have a large leak you can also make a patch out of coated nylon cloth and use Aquaseal or Barge Cement to attach it over the hole. Best of luck!!
