For the first time in two years, I was able to fish and fool a trout on a dry fly (and right in the middle of a downtown area). Life circumstances have been such that when I have a chance to fish, it's either late-fall or winter so it felt amazing to finally have a chance to use some dries.

On a side note: Anyone know what kind of fly I used? I know the picture may not be detailed enough, but this was in a batch of flies I ordered when I started 5 years ago and had never used it. It went on the tippet because it was dark and size 14.

I am heading up north this weekend to the Au Sable, so this was just a quick warm-up trip after work. It's truly incredible to know that trout exist only 15 minutes from work and in the middle of a city.

Hope you all are enjoying Spring!

Nice fish Doug, I can’t really tell what the fly pattern is.

I’ll try to take a better picture of just the fly at some point because there are a few a bought before I had any idea what I was doing. And, now that I know a little more, I still have no idea what they are.

Nice brown! Paint Creek or elsewhere? (PM me if you don't want to reveal it publicly.) Yup, we have a few hidden gems in southern MI. Too many to mention in my neck of the woods!

No matter how big the one you just caught is, there's always a bigger one out there somewhere...

Nice fish! Well done.
