A panoramic view from Finger Mountain along the Dalton Highway. This is one of the more developed rest stops along the highway, and the view is vast and spectacular. The "finger" that gives Finger Mountain its name is sticking up in the distance behind the cars in the parking lot. From Dalton Highway in Alaska.

This tiny spring creek is extremely fertile, and I sampled many interesting insects I didn't find anywhere else. The water was completely open even though other nearby spring creeks were frozen over and the snow was three feet deep. From Schacte Creek in Wisconsin.

I caught this coho salmon alevin by accident while netting nymphs after an unsuccessful day steelhead fishing further downstream. I let him swim in a container lid for a minute and slid him gently back into the river. From the Bois Brule River in Wisconsin.

So far I've only really chased Westslope Cutthroat in small streams. Two fish around 11-12" from this stream were my biggest yet. The other one squirmed away from my gentle grip before I could get a photo. From Mystery Creek # 211 in Washington.
