Desktop Backgrounds

I've taken a few of my favorite pictures and made them into nice desktop backgrounds. It's really easy to set one of these as your background. Just click the link closest to your screen resolution () below a picture to save it to your hard drive. Then (if you're using Windows XP) right-click on your desktop, select "Properties," go to the "Desktop" tab, hit the "Browse" button, select the image from wherever you just saved it, and click "Apply" and "Okay".

This looks like a normal lake at first, but it's actually a natural, shallow widening in the channel of a famous trout stream. On clear days canoeists drift through and watch small trout and suckers swim beneath them. Large brown trout lay hidden in the weeds, and some of them move into the narrows around the lake to feed during prime hatches. They're a fun challenge for any angler willing to brave the mosquitoes. I've caught several trout in this pool. Several were cruising around it picking bugs off the surface while I took this picture, and then I set the camera down to cast for them. I caught two, including a brown of almost 13", from this photographic perch about ten feet above the water. It felt silly lifting them up, but I was short on time and didn't want to climb down. This desktop background was created from this picture.

Here's a pretty sunset over a warmwater lake in the northwoods. It may not be trout water, but I couldn't leave it off the site. This desktop background was created from this picture.

This is a very deep pool in a very clear stream. It's well-known for its brookies, but I neither saw nor caught any in this inviting pool. I drove a few miles upstream and ran into the expected number of eager little fish. This desktop background was created from this picture.

I caught a nice brookie a few weeks earlier in this pool at the junction of a split channel in the stream. The huge fallen tree is great cover. This desktop background was created from this picture.
