Leaving for a 14 day trip to Montana. I'm looking forward to meeting Louis out there for his first Montana trip. This will be my 50th trip! Over all the years I've spent well over two full years in Montana. While most of the state has changed dramatically over the years the fishing for wild trout is just as good, but different.

I'll try and get some pictures holding the 21" plus fish that I photograph. Anything smaller is still nice just not photo worthy. My fishing partner and I don't often fish close enough to get pictures of each other but I will try to get a few. I'm leaving June 23. It is going to be a low water year which means the channels I prefer to fish will be lower than I like and likely will warm up quicker than the deeper water of the main river. I plan on floating at least once every day and possibly will do some evening floats too.

At almost 78 I'm thrilled to still be able to make a trip like this. I can't fish 12 hours like I used to but five hours during the morning to early afternoon, a nice nap and early dinner, and then five hours until dark will be just fine.

Matt, we might miss each other due to timing, but you and Jason have given me some great tips. We can compare notes when we're both back. Best of luck and tight lines!
