Lena and Taiga on the Maclaren River Trail. This trail heads north toward the Maclaren Glacier and West Fork of the Maclaren River, uphill on the west side of the Maclaren River.

Halibut bait. The herring cut herring is the main treat, but the pieces of octopus really stay on the hook. Combine them, and you'll have something down there to get the halibut to keep nibbling if it steals the herring.

After finishing the Kenai float, I drove town to Homer. Along the way was this view of the little fishing village of Ninilchik on Cook Inlet.
Heading out on my first halibut-fishing trip. The gear is a little heavier than what I'm used to.
