First off, I would like to apologize to Tim that this has taken me so long to post. In fact, its been so long since I’ve last posted that most of you newer Troutnuts have probably never seen one of my posts.

I think the word is synchronicity or some such, so here’s the story and I’m sticking to it.

For nearly a decade I have been on the board of the Michigan Fly Fishing Club. I am now the immediate past president of the club. The Club was formed in 1970 and since 1978 we have run a show called the Midwest Fly Fishing Expo that happens every year in March…This is from the last one in 2019.

My job at these shows has been to show our featured speakers around and introduce them at the seminars they present. I have been lucky to meet many of the folks we all know as authors etc. in fly fishing.

Over the years I’ve escorted AK Best, Rick Kustich, Rick Hafele, Craig Mathews, Gary Borger, Skip Morris, and Michael Mauri.

At last years show I got to show around Tim Cammisa who most of you know does fly tying videos on YouTube.

So…At the end of a presentation, just before lunch, Tim was telling the crowd about resources he used and would maybe be helpful for them as well. When he got to TroutNut he went blank and couldn’t remember Jason’s name. This happens at these sorts of jamming deals and you can go brain dead for a moment.

I yelled out, “Jason Neuswanger”, and he thanked me.

Tim’s wife had shown up and the three of us were having lunch in a small lunch area for the speakers. He asked me about TroutNut and how I knew about it. I said I had visited the site for some time before I discovered the blog there, and though I had never posted anywhere, I decided to post something in response to something someone had said.

I then proceeded to blab on for a couple years on TroutNut?! He asked me what my “name” was on the site and I told him Oldredbarn. He nearly fell out of his chair and said he had read all my posts and had visited the North Branch of the Au Sable near Lovell’s Michigan that I had written about.

So here it is Tim…Nearly a year later, and I’m sorry about that. I was looking through some show pics and spotted this one…Oops!

Spence, good to see back, if my granddaughter was here she could tell me how to help with the photo orientation, but me, sorry. Don't be a stranger!

Spence, my good friend John Dunn taught Timmy to fish. I've fished the Little Juniata with Timmy, and, of course, John. They are both great guys.
