John Dunn, who I believe has posted here as Caddisman, just sent me this. It's pretty cool. I recommend full screen.

Fascinating! What a beautiful little video. It sure demonstrates why dry fly fishing can be difficult when trout are focused on hovering adults. This scenario is very common on Western ponds and lakes. Now if I can just figure out how to get my fly to hover 3" above the water... :)

Thanks for the link, Louis!

If you figure it out let me know, because I think I could use that technique on the Siphloplecton basale hatch around here. ;)

Dapping with a two fly rig using a bulky or weighted fly as the point?

I was happy when I come across a situation like this, albeit with dragonflies on a bass pond, and there were plenty of sparse branches. I could just pitch casts over the branches and twitch the fly a few inches above the surface. When the fish took, the branches would bend down and free the line.

Yes! Fish actually have weight when not suspended in water.
