OK they both died on the surface film in the tank this spring. On the same morning inside of about an hour. The are both ( light Cahills duns ) Maccaffertium mediopunctatum.

Having the chance I placed them together for our viewing pleasure so we can see the size difference of the male VS the female. They are slightly extended in the abdomen size, which is typical as they die they extend their abdomen. True size in life is normally 7mm for the male and 9mm for the female. I am also anding another male that is living so we can get a clear look at what he looks like but it is another sample that hatch within the hour of the couple.

I am very certain of the identification because I have dissected several males that are a match to these ones as Maccaffertium mediopunctatum and it coincides with a male I posted here last year that Kurt and Jeff helped me ID as this specie.
