Good luck! Back in 1996 when my wife and I visited Rome we were there to visit with her cousin who was then the president of the World Food Program. At dinner I explained I had been looking for Benecchi thread while I was in Italy...The next day she had her staff looking around for the stuff and they struck out.

This was pre internet etc, so you may have better luck than they did...

The thread was probably used in the making of clothes originally and may be from near Milan...There are more trout streams up that way too.

Bruce, IMHO, your time in Rome could be better spent doing just about anything other than hanging around a fly shop...If you have seen one you have seen them all.

Be a good Supplicant and visit the Sistine Chapel. :)
