Posts: 287Mack, sounds very interesting. I guess with dry flies you're matching only the color on the bottom of the bug since that is all the trout sees.

How far in to Ontario are you?

You are over the top! :)

Could you come to my place and make some order from my chaos?! I think we all think on an ordered level, but time is an issue, and sometimes we end up with good intentions and one hell of a mess!

That's pretty impressive Mack...I have an old entomology kit that I purchased years ago with good intentions in mind...It has sat so long I'm afaird that the chemicals in there are going to morph in to something toxic or explosive...Any chemists out there? ;) Am I safe?

Brookyman - This is awesome...really, just awesome! The dedication that went into it, all for catching trout blows me away. I can't wait for parts 2 and 3!

"Yup I am an extreme eccentric personality."

I'm sure you are aware, Mack, that you're the only one on this site... ;oD

P.S. Awesome color chart! Perhaps you should add Munsell notations? Then you'd be seriously quantifiable...
No matter how big the one you just caught is, there's always a bigger one out there somewhere...

I was a fan when I was a kid. Now my to favorite sports are fly fishing & sleeping.

I was just wondering...I'm hockey crazy as are a few others here on this site...You should hear us go on in our PM's. You would think we were Canadians.

I actually visited the old rink for a game with my Wings on Carlton St before they built the new one...I did the same thing up in Montreal in 1992 at the Forum...

I was a Windsor Spitfire fan for years until 911 made it a hassle to get to games and they built themselves a new rink on the other side of Windsor further from my home. I did the fan bus ride a couple times to London and another game in Niagara Falls.

Back in 73 I drove through BC and the Yukon on my way to Alaska. in 1975 a buddy and I drove to Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.

Rather fond of Canada. Here in Detroit we get the CBC and Hockey Night in Canada...I go back to the Original Six days and I'd hate to tell you some of the guys I saw in those days...I'm old brother. :) The Oldredbarn name I use here was actually what we called the Olympia Stadium where the Wings played before the Joe...It was on Grand River and Mcgraw and I saw Tommy Hearns' first two pro fights in there in the 70's and Pink Floyd...I actually attended a wedding reception there once in the Olympia Room inside the building in the late 70's...It's tore down now.

In that one post you see me at the Pittsburgh rink...Tony took me to that game, Pens/Rangers...He saw my Oldredbarn name and read something about me being a Detroit fan and he's been hassling me ever since! :) He was here at the Joe in 2009 when his Pens won the Stanley Cup here...Ouch! It was pay back for the prior year when we did the same thing to them. We pray for a rubber match, he & I...

SO I am on board with this color matching and want to be clear on the instructions.
1) Glue the material (fur or otherwise) to the board.
2) Then paint over it with enough clear nail polish to soak it ?
