Paraleptophlebia ??? blue quill

I found a file containing a variity of genus. So if the picture quality is good I will load more. So lets start with this one Maybe adoptiva.

Looking at the head shape I am starting to lean towards mollis they are very common in the area where I collected this one. Size I have no idea.

All my thoughts here are based on the photos in Hatchs II.

This is an interesting specimen. I agree on the genus but as to species, I don't think it's either one. The presence of lateral spines on the eighth segment precludes them. In addition, adoptiva doesn't have banded legs and mollis gills fork closer to their bases (about one third out, Burks '53).

There are 10 species currently on the books for you up there but we can eliminate eight of them as their gills branch very close to the bases, among other reasons. The only species that seems to qualify on all counts, including leg markings & head capsule maculation (pale spot between the antennae) is assimilis, which is where I would place this specimen.

Wow cool Kurt.

I will file it under that name if I can find it. I should be able to. I am also going to load a few more that I believe might be Paraleptoheabia as well. I have a tray of many samples that I haven't had the chance to get too.

I like these photos and the different angles they give. For a tyer it helps to see so many varying perspectives.
