Hello everybody.

ephemerella subvaria

which I believe is also known as (: Dark Hendrixson :).

The only things that make me believe that it is subvaria is the classic pale area in the dorsal side,or topside of the nymphal shuck. The time of year, and the overall size and color. Like the female I loaded it died in the test tube so association from nymph to dun it available.
The color of the drowned dun is lighter than normal I believe that's from not emerging from the water.

I just noticed last night that this is a male. I still have the shuck and adult together in the test tub. The date is April 30th this past spring.

I like the way that we get to see the wings still folded up.

Is it possible to make a slide of the male genitalia? I don't know what supplies you have...

Hi Luke

I can mount them as well as take photos of the genitals and other parts.

My scope is not digital but I have rigged it up for a video recorder.

The only reference I currently have is [ Allen & Edmunds ] 1965
to show Ephemerella genitals. Would that be satisfactory for that
identification. Likely not of value here but I have all of
Allen & Edmunds Ephemerella and species manuals.

Also for you I posted one that might be serrata.

Are the genitals mature enough cause it didn't even make a dun.

Thanks

Mack.

I'm curious if this could be Ephemerella fratercula (known only as adult)

WOW are you serious!!! I guess you are, or you would't say it.

If I can get a picture of the genitals without ripping it apart can you tell.

Of course you can !!!..Some times in my excitement I forget
who I am talking too.

I will look into it, a get back to you shortly. They look really clean in the tube just like I put them in there yesterday.

The claspers are slightly in the way of a clear shot. But from what I see it doesn't have the same shape as subvaria as per Allen & Edmonds 65. I am starting to photograph him I will get as many different shots as I can get. I will load picture's as ??? fractulata ???? as a new thread because I don't know how to load them inside of a ongoing thread.
