My girlfriend prepares to cast into a deep waterfall pool.

This is the first grizzly bear I've seen. It's in Denali National Park. People with long-range binoculars, plus the view through a couple spotting scopes the park installed at this stop, verified that the little light spot my arrow is pointing to is, in fact, a grizzly bear. This is the closest view I got.

I caught several wild and colorful 8-9 inch brook trout in the clear little pool below this waterfall.

This is the gentle side of Lake Superior, a beautiful backwater bay.

The moon backlights a willow after midnight on a favorite trout stream.

Now these are fall colors.

This fat-bodied 22" male was my largest brown trout ever at the time. It took a deep nymph and took me 150 yards downstream in a 20-minute fight in strong current.


The Copper River is another of Alaska's major glacial drainages, hosting huge salmon runs which spread out more thinly into its clearwater tributaries to spawn.
