Alaska Range twilight time lapse
I shot a picture every twenty seconds for a few hours as the sunlight faded over the Alaska Range above Black Rapids, and compressed them into this time lapse. It's amazing how much the mountains directly affect the clouds, and I never really appreciated it until I saw them in motion like this.

This panorama of the Alaska Range from a high point on Coal Mine Road gives you a taste of the vastness of the landscape. Of course, it has to be viewed full-size. From Coal Mine Road in Alaska.

The old small-scale coal mine, along with erosion from Ober Creek, left these coal seams exposed on a hillside, mixed in with other sedimentary rocks. From Ober Creek in Alaska.

SPECTACULAR!!! What a colorful place! Reminds me of Isle Royale, which still does not compare for spectacular scenery (where else does?) but is also a very colorful place, right down to the rocks on the beaches, where you could find them in every color of the rainbow. Love the wildflower shots!! It's just the botanist (BS, U of Michigan, 1986) in me talking...Thanks for sharing!

No matter how big the one you just caught is, there's always a bigger one out there somewhere...
